Baron Davis opted out of his contract which would have paid him $17.2 million for the final year. With Davis gone, the Warriors franchise will look totally different next year. The Warriors were the 3rd youngest team in the league last year and are looking to become even younger this year with the addition of Anthony Randolph and Richard Hendrix; not to mention, the multitude of undraftees that will most likely round out the roster.

With Davis on the outs and Matt Barnes looking for his payday elsewhere, the tri-captains from the prior year is now down to one–Capt. Jack. With nine seasons of professional ball on his resume, Stephen Jackson will be the veteran prescence that the youngsters will look to for advice. There isn’t a better ballplayer you could ask to assume the role. Jackson can teach the young guys the importance of defense and selflessness on the court while showing them ropes on how to act professional off the court.

The next season begins a new era for the Golden State Warriors. The Stephen Jackson era!
